Thalia Maria was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
After completing High school education she was admitted to the Faculty of Economics of the School of Law, Economics and Political Sciences at the Athens National Kapodistrian University.
Soon her studies proved insufficient to fulfil her ambitions and she decided to chase her dreams of art. She applied to the Istituto Europeo di Design in Italy where she studied
Jewellery Design from 1987 until 1991.

She worked as a jewel designer for the most prestigious jewellery shops and workshops in Athens from 1990 until 1995.
When again, her work did not prove fulfilling enough, she decided to pursue sculptural objects on a larger scale and enrolled in a two-year MA in Goldsmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery at the Royal College of Art in London.

Since Thalia completed the course in 1997, until present day, she has worked exclusively as a silversmith. The majority of objects she has created are made of silver, but she has also worked with glass and bronze to a lesser extent.

Her work celebrates the beauty of everyday, simple objects, of nature, tradition and rituals. It expresses a personal fascination with silver and the challenging yet meditative process of hand forging. Her timeless pieces are made to be used and enjoyed.
